Hon. Uthman Mugoya, Deputy Chief Commissioner of Scouts in Uganda Urges Parents to Encourage Children to Join Scouts
Hon. Uthman Mugoya, Deputy Chief Commissioner of Scouts in Uganda, appealed yesterday to parents and guardians to allow their children to join the scouting movement.
He highlighted the numerous benefits of scouting, including
Developing important life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving,
Building confidence and self-esteem
Fostering a sense of community and social responsibility
Encouraging outdoor education and environmental awareness
Preparing young people for active citizenship and leadership roles
Hon. Mugoya also requested the Ministry of Education, Games, and Sports to officially recognize and support scouting in schools. He emphasized that scouting aligns with the country’s values and goals and can play a vital role in shaping the next generation of leaders.
He concluded by saying that he believes that scouting has the power to transform lives and build a better future for our country. He therefore calls upon all stakeholders and well-wishers to support this noble cause and empower our young people to become active citizens and leaders of today, tomorrow, and the future
