President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni yesterday emphasized the importance of beneficiaries of the Parish Development Model (PDM) taking full responsibility for the funds they receive.
During a visit to Kimbugu Village, Kabwoya Sub-County, Buhaguzi County, Kikuube District, the President stressed that the PDM is a direct investment in the economic empowerment of its beneficiaries.
“This PDM is your bank. It is not a handout, but a revolving fund meant to uplift you from poverty,” President Museveni said. He urged beneficiaries to ensure that the funds are put to good use and repaid after two years, allowing others to benefit from the program.
The President’s remarks were made during a visit to PDM model farmer Mr. Mpagazihe Jackson, where he reiterated that the success of the initiative depends on the discipline and commitment of its beneficiaries.
This emphasis on responsibility and accountability is crucial for the program’s sustainability and effectiveness. The PDM is designed to provide financial support to parish-level communities, promoting economic development and poverty reduction.
With the President’s urging, beneficiaries are encouraged to take ownership of their development and utilize the funds wisely to achieve long-term benefits .
